JUDGING FLEECE SHOW : The Navan Fair Alpaca Show will follow the Alpaca Canada Show System rules with some changes in regards to colour and age groupings- see as follows:

CLASS FORMATION
All classes shall be organized by breed, colour and age.

COLOUR GROUPS
White/Light – hue of the overall blanket fleece is light colored, ie beige or lighter on the CLAA color chart)
Fawn– hue of the overall blanket fleece is fawn based, and includes light, medium and dark fawn
Brown/Black – hue of the overall blanket fleece is brown or black 
Grey/Multi – Grey - hue of the overall blanket is grey (matches any of the CLAA color chart grey colors)
Multi - An alpaca is to be shown in the multi class if it exhibits two or more colours that are distinct and immediately visible upon opening the fleece by hand, and are situated on the alpaca blanket. Example: an alpaca that is of overall uniform colour, but that has a spot of another distinct colour on the blanket area, will be shown in the multi class. If an alpaca has a single spot at skin level less than 3cm in diameter in the blanket, the alpaca will go into its predominant colour class. 

AGE GROUPINGS:
Junior:  Age 6 months  to under 14 months
Yearling:  Age 14 months  to under 24 months
Prime:  Age 24 months  to under 36 months
Mature:  Age 36 months  and over

RULES and GUIDELINES 2011


Entries must have CLAA registration.
Entries with pending registration status are NOT accepted.
Percentage purebred alpacas with CLAA certificates of registration are eligible to show

Sexes are combined.

Fleeces shall be presented in clear plastic bags with no paper inserted and have the required fleece identification form included.

No fleece under six (6) months of age is eligible for fleece competition.

Fleeces must be from the most recent shearing of the alpaca.

Minimum staple length: 3 inches (76 mm); fleeces with less than 3"shall be disqualified.

Maximum staple length is 6.5 inches (16.5mm) for age groups other then Junior classes. Fleeces exceeding max. staple length will be disqualified.

There is no max. staple length for Junior Classes.

Fleeces older than 14 months since shorn shall be disqualified.

Ribbons will be awarded to fourth place.

First and second place fleeces will compete for Colour and Reserve Colour Champions. (
Only fleeces which have achieved a minimum score of 60 points are eligible to compete for fleece championships)

Colour Champions will compete for Supreme Champion.

There will be a Judge's Choice Award. This award need not be based on final score awarded

Entry Fees for Fleece Show:
Registration by July 1, 2011
$45 for the first fleece
$35 for each other fleece per class

Registration between July 1-July 15, 2011
$70 for the first fleece
$50 for each other fleece
